Blue states push clean fuel standards amid climate policy clashes

Bills being considered seek to reduce the carbon intensity of ground transportation fuels.

Lawmakers in Democratic-led states are considering legislation to encourage the production of clean transportation fuel to help reduce greenhouse-gas emissions, as other climate actions come under attack. 

Bills were introduced in at least six states this year that would establish a low carbon fuel standard, also known as a clean fuel standard.
