Calif. Assembly special committee set for vote on gas price bill

California lawmakers will take up legislation next week to address gas price spikes after two informational hearings featured testimony from both sides of the issue.

A bill proposed by Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) to require petroleum refiners to maintain a minimum fuel reserve to avoid supply shortage during maintenance shutdowns is the focus of the special session. The temporary bipartisan Assembly committee is considering it before a potential Oct. 1 floor vote.
