Calif. lawmaker targets Ticketmaster’s grip on industry

The company called the bill a ‘ticket scalper’s dream.’

Ticketmaster would face fresh competition from other live event ticket sellers under legislation unveiled Monday by California Assemblymember Buffy Wicks (D).

The Appropriations Committee chair’s bill represents the latest effort by lawmakers to improve ticket buying for consumers, after the fiasco that ensued in 2022 over Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour.
