California lawmakers advance housing innovation package

The proposals are getting attention from advocates and lawmakers in other states.

California lawmakers are advancing a suite of bills that supporters say will make it easier to install factory-built homes statewide, in the Legislature’s latest push to spur housing construction and bring down the state’s sky-high home prices. 

If the package is passed, housing policy experts say California will cement its position as a national leader in encouraging modular, manufactured and prefabricated housing.
