California moves to impose climate reporting rules on business

California legislators moved Friday to impose climate disclosure rules on certain businesses, with an eye toward enlisting companies to help slow the effects of climate change.

The bills were advanced by the Assembly Appropriations Committee — typically the last stop before a possible vote on the chamber floor.
