California partners with NVIDIA to train workforce for AI future

Newsom called it essential for the state to help Californians develop the new skills.

California is partnering with chip-making giant NVIDIA to help train workers for jobs in the artificial intelligence field, in the latest example of states seeking a competitive edge in the fast-moving industry.

Under the non-binding agreement Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) announced Friday, NVIDIA will help the state equip students and workers with essential AI skills. The partnership, which includes the state’s community college system, will also seek to promote innovative uses of AI in both the public and private sectors.
