Dems pressure Biden over migrant work authorizations

Some of President Biden’s closest political allies are pressuring his administration to speed work authorization rules for undocumented migrants flooding into blue states as a way to ease the strain on state and local budgets.

In a letter to Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas on Monday, Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker (D) and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson (D) asked federal officials to allow the state to sponsor noncitizens to work in industries that face labor shortages.
