DeSantis orders redistricting session in Florida

It will take place in April, after the regular legislative session is scheduled to end.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis will order state lawmakers into special session in April to consider redrawing the state’s congressional district lines, the latest salvo in national mid-decade redistricting wars as Republicans and Democrats fight over control of the U.S. House of Representatives.

In a press release Wednesday, DeSantis said he would call lawmakers to Tallahassee on April 20 for a week-long session exclusively aimed at altering district lines, in anticipation of a forthcoming U.S. Supreme Court ruling that is likely to allow more gerrymandered districts.
