Directory laws set big tobacco against disposable vapes

The laws lay out exactly which products have won FDA approval.

State lawmakers are moving to create authorized lists of vaping products as big tobacco manufacturers maneuver around smaller entrants to the market for access to millions of Americans in search of alternatives to combustable cigarettes.

Lawmakers in nine states have approved legislation creating state-maintained vape directories, databases of products that comply with Food and Drug Administration protocols for formal authorization and are therefore eligible for retail sale.
