Flag changes may be coming to several states

Minnesota and Illinois passed legislation to kick off redesigns, and a few other states could be next.

The U.S. flag will look how it has for decades as Americans celebrate the Fourth of July, but several states took steps this year to update their individual flags.

Minnesota and Illinois passed legislation this year to redesign their state flags. Maine, Michigan and Pennsylvania could be next, as those states seek to make their flags stand out from the crowd while capturing unique cultural and historical identities.
