Supporters of abortion rights have collected more than enough signatures to qualify a proposed constitutional amendment for the ballot in 2024, surmounting a key hurdle in the race to roll back a ban approved by legislators last year.
The Florida Division of Elections said Friday morning it had validated 911,027 signatures, about 20,000 more than supporters needed to turn in to qualify for the ballot. Supporters last month turned in 1.4 million signatures, beating the Feb. 1 deadline to reach their goal by more than a month.
