Florida lawmakers pass social media ban for teens under 16

The House voted 108-7 to give final approval and send the legislation to Gov. Ron DeSantis.

Florida lawmakers on Thursday gave final approval to a bill banning youth under 16 from having certain social media accounts, a sweeping prohibition that goes well beyond what other states have done to regulate online access for kids.

The final vote in the Florida House was 108-7. It came hours after the Senate cleared an amended version of the bill, 23-14.
