Florida Republicans roll out broad health care package

The legislation would bring the state in line with Trump initiatives to address affordability, workforce shortages and drug prices.

Florida House Republicans unveiled a broad health care package that would tighten eligibility for social safety net programs, loosen industry regulations, expand workforce incentives and reshape prescription drug pricing — an agenda closely aligned with priorities the Trump administration is encouraging states to adopt.

The New Frontier in Health Care package, announced by House Speaker Daniel Perez ahead of the 2026 legislative session, would amount to one of the most sweeping efforts in the country to bring state laws and regulations in line with initiatives the Trump administration says will save taxpayer money, curb rising costs and improve health outcomes.
