Florida seeks Medicaid waiver to fund health workforce expansion

Florida is seeking federal approval to use Medicaid money to grow its health care workforce — a plan officials say could become a national model.

The Live Healthy program, which is the largest health care package the legislature has ever passed, would direct up to $3 billion in federal and state money over five years to training and loan repayment for health care professionals who serve Medicaid patients in underserved areas.
