Gas taxes set to increase in 6 states

In most of the states, the tax is linked to inflation or a gas price measure.

Gas taxes are scheduled to rise Saturday in six states, just in time for the July 4 holiday weekend.

Motor fuel taxes will rise in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Missouri and Virginia, according to the Tax Foundation, a free market think tank based in Washington, D.C. In most of those states, the taxes are rising because they are linked to inflation or a gas price measure.
