Geothermal energy finds bipartisan momentum

States are seeking ways to meet the booming power demand.

A burst of legislation to spur geothermal projects is sweeping across both blue and red states, highlighting the energy source’s unique place amid the divide over climate change policy.

A handful of bills have now been passed to encourage the use of geothermal systems for electricity generation and other applications. Colorado, which is controlled by Democrats, in recent weeks became the latest to do so, following Republican-led Texas and Utah.
