Hawaii state lawmakers say preparations have already begun for a package of legislation aimed at helping Maui recover from cataclysmic wildfires that have so far claimed more than 100 lives.
It is unclear whether Gov. Josh Green (D) will call a special session to speed consideration of a recovery package, or whether an interim committee will tee up a list of bills ahead of the regular session in January. Green planned to make an announcement at 1:30 p.m. Hawaii time on Wednesday.
