High-THC hemp products face new state regulations

A growing number of state legislatures this year enacted new restrictions on intoxicating hemp-based products that blasted onto store shelves and online marketplaces after Congress legalized hemp production in 2018.

The products — including drinks, gummies, snack items and concentrates — have skirted state-regulated cannabis markets, drawing the ire of the marijuana industry and the alarm of public health advocates.
