In deep red Kentucky, a Dem holds late edge

In deep red Kentucky, incumbent Gov. Andy Beshear (D) is entering the final weeks of his re-election campaign with a towering fundraising advantage, polling numbers on his side and having turned the issue of abortion to his potential advantage.

And yet, the most closely watched gubernatorial contest of 2023 – Louisiana and Mississippi voters will also elect governors next month — is still very much in play as Attorney General Daniel Cameron (R) seeks to unseat Beshear and become Kentucky’s first Black governor.
