Industry, federal pushback foiling state AI regulation efforts

The drive by state lawmakers to protect the public from artificial intelligence’s potential ills is increasingly being thwarted by industry and federal pushback.

Congress is likely to again consider a moratorium on enforcement of state AI laws, after the U.S. Senate rejected the proposal last month. And tech and venture capital interests are intensifying their opposition to a state-by-state approach to regulating AI developers and deployers.
