Kentucky GOP chooses Cameron to face Beshear

Cameron had support from former President Donald Trump in what became a race to the right.

Kentucky Republicans have nominated Attorney General Daniel Cameron (R) as their candidate to take on Gov. Andy Beshear (D), setting up what is expected to be the marquee contest on the ballot this November.

With 29% of the anticipated votes counted, Cameron was leading Agriculture Commissioner Ryan Quarles (R) by a 45% to 21% margin. The Associated Press projected Cameron would win the race.
