Bipartisan groups of lawmakers are advancing legislation this year that would set hard caps on the amount sellers could charge on the resale of tickets to sporting events and concerts in an effort to combat bots that can drive prices beyond the reach of average Americans.
Vermont Gov. Phil Scott (R) last month signed legislation that would cap resale prices at 110% of the original face value. The bill, sponsored by Republican Rep. Jim Harrison (R), won overwhelming support in both chambers of the Democratic-controlled Legislature.
