License plate flipper bans seek to curb toll evasion, crime

Delaware, Illinois and Wisconsin are the latest states to crack down.

Delaware, Illinois and Wisconsin are the latest states to crack down on license plate flippers — devices that allow drivers to obscure their plates with the flip of a switch, James Bond-style.

Lawmakers in all three states approved prohibitions this year similar to laws already passed in California, Florida, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas and Washington. Legislation is pending in New Jersey.
