Lobbying push reheats as AI bill heads to Hochul

The fight in New York is reminiscent of what played out last year in California.

Industry groups, venture capitalists and technology interests are digging in for another round of fighting against a New York artificial intelligence safety bill as it heads to the governor.

The Responsible AI Safety and Education Act, also known as the RAISE Act, would regulate large, powerful AI systems known as frontier models in an attempt to ensure they don’t unleash catastrophic harm to people or critical infrastructure.
