Mass. Senate advances compromise climate package

The House will consider it as soon as Monday.

The Massachusetts Senate approved far-reaching legislation Thursday designed to help the state meet emissions reduction goals and tackle climate change, including by boosting clean energy production.

The bill is the product of intense negotiations that continued after the regular session’s July 31 end. The chamber accepted the conference report 38-2, sending it to the House, which could take it up as soon as Monday.
