Md. Gov signs youth internet safety, data privacy bills

Maryland joined California by modeling its data regulations for minors on those in the United Kingdom.

Maryland Gov. Wes Moore (D) signed a landmark children’s data privacy law and a comprehensive data privacy law at a ceremony in Annapolis on Thursday.

In enacting the Maryland Kids Code bill, Maryland has joined California by modeling its regulations on those in the United Kingdom, which have led social media sites and other online services to change how they interact with kids.
