Medicaid benefits at risk as states prepare for massive funding reduction

Lawmakers are considering cuts to provider rates, dental benefits, and GLP-1 reimbursements.

States are slimming down their Medicaid programs as they plan for steep reductions in federal funding under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. 

Provider rates, dental benefits, reimbursement for high-cost GLP-1 weight loss drugs — they are all on the table in multiple states as lawmakers seek to pare down Medicaid spending to prepare for the $900 billion nationwide reduction in federal funds.
