Medicaid expansion advocates renew efforts despite cost concerns

They say it’s still the best option for states to offset future coverage losses among low-income adults.

BOSTON — Medicaid expansion supporters are renewing their push in the wake of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, even as the new law will require states to take on more of the program’s cost.

“The promise of Medicaid expansion as a policy and as, frankly, a moral imperative, is still there,” said Lucy Dagneau, a lobbyist with the American Cancer Society Action Network.
