Minn. effort to stop tax evasion could inspire other states

It thrilled some tax wonks despite being unsuccessful.

Minnesota lawmakers stunned the tax policy world this spring when they came close to radically changing how corporations are taxed. 

Both the House and Senate approved tax bills that would have made Minnesota the first state to tax the worldwide income of all corporations doing business there, including overseas income earned by parent companies and subsidiaries.
