Minnesota poised to ban ‘nudification’ apps

The vast majority of states have enacted laws regulating the creation of intimate deepfakes, but have not banned the apps used.

Minnesota lawmakers have approved a first-in-the-nation ban on artificial intelligence “nudification” applications that are often used to victimize women and girls.

The bill, which the Senate unanimously approved last week and still needs Democratic Gov. Tim Walz’s signature, was passed a year after Texas enacted a law requiring nudification apps to verify user ages.
