Minnesota sets 2050 net-zero greenhouse gas emissions goal

The budget package signed Wednesday includes $2 billion in new spending for a raft of climate priorities.

Minnesota has joined 15 other states in setting a net-zero greenhouse gas emissions goal.

The move came in a $72 billion budget package Gov. Tim Walz (D) signed Wednesday that includes about $2 billion in new spending for a raft of climate priorities, such as hitting net-zero emissions by 2050 and creating a green bank.
