Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves (R) won re-election on Tuesday, holding off what appeared to be a late charge from Public Service Commissioner Brandon Presley (D) and extending a Republican winning streak in a state that hasn’t elected a Democratic governor this century.
In the end, Presley’s last-minute gains failed to materialize. With 67% of expected votes counted, Reeves was ahead by a 55% to 44% margin.
