Missouri legislature kicks off redistricting session

It’s part of a tit-for-tat fight in the parties’ battle for control of a narrowly divided U.S. House.

Missouri lawmakers return to Jefferson City on Wednesday to consider a new plan to redraw congressional district map lines ahead of next year’s midterm elections, the latest in a series of Republican-led states to accede to President Trump’s demands for political advantage.

Gov. Mike Kehoe (R), under pressure from the White House to redraw map lines, has proposed what he calls a more compact and contiguous map than the existing lines. Republicans today hold seven of the Show Me State’s nine seats in the U.S. House of Representatives.
