Montana bans emissions analysis for new power plants

Conservative lawmakers in other states may consider similar legislation.

Montana Gov. Greg Gianforte (R) signed a bill last week to ban the analysis of greenhouse gas emissions when building a power plant or other projects needing a state air quality permit.

The law is ripe to be replicated by lawmakers in other GOP-led states, as Republicans look to cut through the red tape that they argue holds back investments that can spur the economy.
