N.J. moves to help residents navigate new Medicaid, SNAP work requirements

The Assembly passed a bill that would boost agencies’ ability to help residents find volunteer opportunities.

New Jersey residents would get extra help qualifying for new Medicaid and SNAP work requirements under first-in-the nation legislation the Assembly passed Tuesday. 

The bill, cosponsored by Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin, would appropriate $200,000 to agencies to help residents find volunteer and community service hours that meet federal requirements under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. The Assembly passed it 77-1.
