N.Y. legislators pass aid-in-dying bill

If signed, it would be the second state this year and 12th overall to enact such a law.

New York would become the 12th state to allow terminally ill patients to end their lives with help from a doctor under legislation heading to Gov. Kathy Hochul (D). 

The Medical Aid in Dying Act would allow “mentally competent” people with less than six months to live to request life-ending medication from a physician. The patient would have to self-administer the drugs.
