N.Y., Md. governors unveil AI proposals

State policymakers across the country are responding to the technology.

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) and Maryland Gov. Wes Moore (D) announced separate proposals Monday that respond to the rapid deployment of artificial intelligence technologies.

Hochul unveiled a $400 million public-private partnership aimed at making the state a leader in AI research and innovation. Moore issued an AI executive order as part of a package of digital modernization initiatives intended to reboot the state’s information technology systems.
