New Jersey Democrats capitalized on a tidal wave of voter turnout to flip at least three seats in the Assembly, putting them on track to seize a supermajority for the first time since 2019.
With about a dozen races still too close to call Wednesday, Democrats had secured 49 of the Assembly’s 80 seats. They won at least eight of the 12 races the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee had identified as competitive, and Democratic candidates were leading in the rest, according to Associated Press and county-level vote tallies.
