New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham’s (D) recent commitment to offer tuition-free child care to all families is the latest in a series of ambitious early childhood investments that have caught the attention of lawmakers in other states.
Lujan Grisham’s plan includes infant and toddler care, preschool, and after-school care up to age 12, state officials said after last week’s announcement. It comes amid other investments, such as ongoing efforts to raise early childhood educator pay and offering home visit services to all young families.
