New York court delivers Dem win in redistricting fight

The decision could swing the balance of power in the U.S. House of Representatives, though Republicans intend to appeal it.

A New York appellate court has ordered the state’s independent redistricting commission to redraw U.S. House district lines, a decision that could swing the balance of power toward Democrats in U.S. national elections just over a year away.

The court on Thursday sided with Democrats, who sued last year to force the commission to finish its work in drawing district lines after a special master drew boundaries in place for the 2022 elections.
