Newsom pushes expedited permitting process to hit 2045 clean energy goal

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) said Thursday that the state must remove barriers in the permitting process to build energy projects to meet its goal of using 100% carbon-free energy by 2045.

“I think the most important thing is to reinforce that we can’t get it done unless we go big and bold, and we’ve got to address the barriers in our way,” Newsom said at a press conference.
