Newsom vetoes autonomous truck bill

It would have required a human safety driver in trucks weighing more than 10,000 pounds.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) vetoed a closely watched bill that would have required a human safety driver on board autonomous trucks weighing more than 10,000 pounds.

The Friday evening veto announcement of AB 316 came at the end of a week when the Teamsters union rallied supporters in Los Angeles and Sacramento demanding that Newsom sign it.
