North Carolina GOP releases proposed congressional maps

It is the latest state to move toward redrawing lines under pressure from the Trump administration.

North Carolina House and Senate Republicans have released a new proposal to redraw the state’s U.S. House district maps ahead of a planned special session meant to flip a Democratic-held seat in the eastern part of the state.

The new proposal would make substantial changes to districts held by Reps. Don Davis (D) and Greg Murphy (R), two lawmakers who collectively represent 32 counties along the border with Virginia and the Atlantic Ocean.
