Oregon GOP ends Senate walkout after abortion, gun bills deal struck

Oregon Senate Republicans returned to work Thursday, ending a record six-week walkout after majority Democrats agreed to changes to abortion and gun control bills, likely avoiding the need for a contentious special session. 

The Senate passed both bills Thursday and sent them to Gov. Tina Kotek (D) for her signature, clearing the way for the legislature to finish other work, including the budget, before the constitutionally mandated June 25 end of the session.
