Outside groups prep AI regulation push amid tech, Trump opposition

They are aligned with lawmakers’ more targeted approach.

Advocates for artificial intelligence regulations are preparing model bills and strategizing how best to support state lawmakers in their regulatory efforts ahead of the 2026 legislative sessions.

They are expanding their efforts as Republicans in Washington consider acting to preempt state AI regulations, a move backed by powerful tech and Silicon Valley interests. Some of those same interests are also funding super PACs with the goal of turning AI regulation into an election-year issue.
