Personality protection: Bills aim to crack down on digital replicas

Washington Gov. Bob Ferguson signed legislation Monday updating the state’s rights of personality law to protect residents from artificial intelligence-generated digital replicas. 

The new law comes amid growing concern about AI being used to clone a person’s voice or likeness, which spawned a plethora of state-level bills this year.
