Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker (D) has signed into law several artificial intelligence bills that position his state among the early adopters of regulations for the fast-evolving technology.
Chief among the new Illinois laws is a measure from Rep. Jaime Andrade, Jr. (D) that amends the state’s Human Rights Act to protect workers from discrimination by AI-powered systems used to make employment-related decisions. The law also requires employers to disclose when they are using AI to recruit, hire or promote employees.
