Record number of bills target LGBTQ rights

At least 74 have been signed into law, many of which specifically target transgender people.

More than 520 bills targeting the rights of LGBTQ people have been introduced in state legislatures across the nation this year, an unprecedented tsunami of legislation that has overwhelmed equality advocates.

Tracking by several pro-LGBTQ rights groups shows at least 74 of those bills have been signed into law. Many of those bills, introduced by Republican lawmakers, specifically target transgender people and those who identify as non-binary.
