Red states expand education savings account access to millions

Lawmakers in six states have passed bills expanding access to education savings accounts this year.

Millions of students will be newly eligible for education savings accounts after Republican lawmakers and governors approved bills expanding financial thresholds this year.

Legislators in six states — Indiana, South Carolina, Arkansas, Utah, Iowa and Florida — have passed bills expanding access to education savings accounts this year. Lawmakers in at least seven other states are still considering measures that would expand existing programs or implement new education savings accounts.
