Red states seek to clarify medical exceptions to abortion bans

Critics question how much the changes will help physicians and patients.

Lawmakers in Kentucky and Texas have considered bills that would clarify what qualifies as a medical exception to two of the most restrictive abortion bans in the country. 

They are among a handful of red states this year revisiting the question of when the procedure can be performed, along with Alabama, Florida and Tennessee.
